hi friends welcome back to my Channel
today I'm going to be showing you how I
make my Cajun style shrimp boil so if
you are interested in learning how I
make this delicious meal please keep on
watching I'm going to start off with
washed red baby potatoes and I like to
use the baby potatoes because they are
the perfect size for this specific dish
so I like the red ones and I like to
leave the skin on this is preferable
some people don't even like having the
skin of a potato on but for me I do like
having the skin on and using the red
potato it has a really thin layer of
skin so I do like to opt for that but
make sure if you are leaving the skin on
your potatoes to brush it really well
with just a vegetable brush in warm
water so you know that your potatoes are
nice and clean now I'm going to be
cutting up my sausages into pretty thick
slices and today I'm using kielbasa
sausage I do like this in my shrimp boil
it just gives it that hearty flavor has
no spice to it but it's definitely nice
to have in the in the shrimp boil so
here I have a large pot with boiling
water I'm going to be adding in a
quarter of an onion as well as some
Creole seasoning you can use whatever
brand of Creole seasoning you like I've
used various brands but I do like the
saturn's Creole seasoning and I'm going
to be just eyeballing how much I add in
probably two to three tablespoons for
the amount of water that I have in here
it doesn't have to be super exact it's
just for flavor and now I'm going to be
adding
and my potatoes and sausages so I'm just
going to go ahead and let that cook and
I'm gonna make sure to check on my
potatoes and make sure that they're not
overcooked because they're overcooked
they become mushy and we do not want
mashed potatoes for this specific dish
so remove the potatoes and the sausages
and put that in a large casserole dish
at this point I'm going to be adding in
some lemon juice and I like to add the
lemon juice to give the shrimp more of a
mild shrimp flavor and it's not super
intense so if you do like intense shrimp
flavor you can skip that lemon juice but
I don't like super intense shrimp flavor
overpowering so I'm going to add in my
lemon juice I'm just going to cook the
shrimp completely and then add in some
corn on the cob and this is just frozen
corn on the cob it's sweet and it's
perfect I'm just gonna make sure it is
softened and cooked before removing it
from my pot and now it's time to get
more flavor into this dish so I'm going
to be adding my dry seasonings in my Old
Bay seasoning my red pepper flakes my
chili powder my lemon pepper and also
mine orleans occasion seasoning I'm
going to be adding in my one stick of
butter into a pan I'm going to let that
melt and then I'm going to saute some
minced garlic
so after about a minute of sauteing my
garlic I don't want to burn that in the
butter I'm going to add in all my dry
seasonings I'm going to whisk that until
it is nicely combined with the garlic
and melted butter and then I'm also
going to be adding in about two
teaspoons of sugar just white sugar and
this is going to give it a little bit of
sweetness not too much but just right to
balance out all the flavors so now I'm
going to thin out my sauce by adding in
some of that water from the pot where I
cooked everything in so where I cooked
in my sausage shrimp potatoes I'm going
to add some of that water flavor into my
sauce and I'm going to thin this out I'm
just going to give it a good mix and
then I'm gonna add in my shrimp coat my
shrimp and then I'm going to add
everything into my casserole dish so if
you're finding that you need a little
bit more sauce which we always do I'm
just going to take some of that water
from the pot and I'm going to add that
into my casserole dish and give that a
really good mix with everything in there
so I want to make sure everything is
nicely coated so it has a nice flavor
over everything so over like the shrimp
the potatoes sausage and the corn
[Music]
now that everything is nicely combined
it's time to eat it's time to enjoy this
amazing dish we like to eat it with
steamed rice and just pour some of that
sauce on top of your rice and it's going
to be a delicious anyway I hope you guys
